Difference between instant-runoff voting and approval scored voting[edit | edit source]
- Hi there User:MarkusSchulze), I'm not exactly sure what you mean by whole-votes-equal-ranking but assuming we're on the same page it is very similar to IRV besides the fact that in order for candidates to receive new votes all candidates scored better than them must be eliminated and while receiving their vote all candidates scored the same also a receive a vote. The requirement for a winner also isn't to achieve a majority of the votes but instead have the most votes once there's only two candidates left, It also uses a ballot that I personally believe better represents a voters beleif and if done right is very simple to interpret and can easily be adapted to other systems if reforms must happen. The multi winner system atributed to it is also more simular to proportional approval systems then proportional IRV systems. Acadia (talk) 21:37, 9 June 2020 (UTC)

IRV-WVER[edit | edit source]
- I.e. is ApSV actually "instant-runoff voting (IRV) with whole-votes equal-ranking (WVER)"
User:Acadia hasn't called this "Adadia's method" (which I'm grateful for), but based on what User:MarkusSchulze is saying, and what User:BetterVotingAdvocacy is linking to, it would appear that this is actually a variant of IRV. I haven't had a chance to do a deep read of this article, so I can't say for sure. My conversation with User:Acadia on the C4ES Discord server, we may want to spend some part of this article talking about the similarities and differences. Moreover, it would seem that we need to have a better "Discussion" section on this article, and perhaps we even need to consider whether this article is ready for the main namepsace yet. Thoughts? -- RobLa (talk) 01:19, 11 June 2020 (UTC)
- I say while similar it is not the same as I've pointed out before it uses a scored ballot with the point of creating a more accurate view of politicians for the fact that with a scored ballot voters do not focus on prefferences (which normal IRV encourages) but instead asks to show how much you approve of each candidate which then allows you prefferences show naturally. Also the multi seat allocation part of it cannot be forgotten as I personally am opposed to single seat elections outside of offices that can only be filled by one person (ex: a prime minister of president), the fact of the matter is that irv-wver is supposed to be a fix for wrongly filled out irv ballots and ApSV is ment to be Its own stand-alone system with a different style of ballot, a different multi winner system, and a way to translate approval to prefferences as to provide a better view of a person's beleifs.
