The w:United Nations Security Council holds informal straw polls every so often about who should lead the joint. One can see the w:List of members of the United Nations Security Council if one is curious about the voting membership. Apparently the United Kingdom plays a big role. Warren Smith still claims that the U.N.'s system is the same as approval voting, even though it has more in common with explicit approval voting, and only if the UN Security Council gets an actual vote.
