: User:Matijaskala and User:Dr. Edmonds, I was trying to understand this here before looking at the Python code. — Psephomancy (talk) 22:05, 25 February 2020 (UTC)

: W = the set of already elected winners
: "expected average load" is the expected number of elected allies divided by the number of voters. Perhaps I should call this "voter efficiency". — Matijaskala (talk) 06:03, 27 February 2020 (UTC)

: I think in general, it would be helpful to indicate, for any single-winner voting method, how it tends to work in the 3-candidate case, and for any PR method, how it works in the party list case. I did what I'd consider a decent example of this for Sequentially Shrinking Quota#Notes. == Deleting pages from electowiki ==

Hi User:Matijaskala - I noticed that you deleted Probabilistic Approval Voting, which was a page that you originally created. Since other people on electowiki had contributed to this page, and since the page has been on electowiki for a while, I'm very hesitant to allow deletion of the page. However, the page was largely your work (from what I understand). Was "Probabilistic Approval Voting" your idea as well, or was it someone else's idea? We can decide whether we need to delete this page or whether we should merely archive it based on your answer to that question. -- RobLa (talk) 00:59, 16 November 2020 (UTC)
: It was my idea. I found out that it's not proportional in case - x: 5A5B0C, x: 5A0B5C, x: 0A5B5C. The candidates would get larger score than if they got maximum score from all voters. Virtually every other method passes that case. The formula may still be usable to efficiently calculate sum of squared loads, but not in this form. — Matijaskala (talk) 03:20, 16 November 2020 (UTC)
:: Thanks for the prompt response, User:Matijaskala. I think we have a few options in front of us:
:: * a. Prepend your explanation to the top of the article. This would be a good option if Probabilistic Approval Voting had become very popular (even if you don't like it anymore). We would then let readers know the origin of the method, and the problems they might encounter if they use it. Since this method didn't seem to become popular, this option doesn't seem like a great choice.
:: * b. Move Probabilistic Approval Voting to Approval Voting. The benefit of that would be that you would still have access to it, as would others who worked on Probabilistic Approval Voting. and Moreover, the editing history would be preserved, and this talk page would be preserved. The downside: it would be clutter in your "user space" (see w:Wikipedia:User_pages#User_pages_and_user_space for what I mean by "user space")
:: * c. Archiving/blanking/redirecting the page. I generally dislike having blank pages, since it leads to a confusing experiene for readers of electowiki. I would prefer to move it into another namespace, and then blank it. That would still keep the history around, but the title of the page wouldn't clutter our list of pages.
:: * d. Delete the page. Deleting pages is something that only electowiki administrators can do (and Miraheze staff). No one other than administrators/Miraheze would be able to see the old history of the page, and there's no guarantee that we would keep backups of the page. Usually, page deletions are reserved for content that is completely unacceptable for electowiki (e.g. vandalism or copyright infringement)
:: I would prefer option "b" above (moving the page to your user space), but I'm open to other options. Which option would you prefer? -- RobLa (talk) 05:33, 16 November 2020 (UTC)
::: "b" seems reasonable option — Matijaskala (talk) 08:30, 16 November 2020 (UTC)
