In 2020, we experimented with "StructuredDiscusssions" (also known as "Flow"). This is a feature that [[Wikimedia Foundation]] was developing for [[English Wikipedia]]. It's not entirely clear how the Wikimedia Foundation plans to make Talk page more usable, but as of this writing (20:14, 25 October 2023 (UTC)), we're going to be using old-school policy and conventions here on electowiki.

The several tilde signs ("<code><nowiki>~</nowiki></code>) in a row have special meaning on all wiki pages, and are especially useful on Talk pages:

* 3 tildes ("<code><nowiki>~~~</nowiki></code>") is replaced with your user id and a link to your talk page (e.g. "[[User:RobLa|RobLa]] ([[User talk:RobLa|talk]])")
* 4 tildes ("<code><nowiki>~~~~</nowiki></code>") to put both your user id, a link to your talk page, and the date and time in UTC (e.g. "[[User:RobLa|RobLa]] ([[User talk:RobLa|talk]]) 20:14, 25 October 2023 (UTC)")
* 5 tildes ("<code><nowiki>~~~~~</nowiki></code>") to put ''just'' the date and time in UTC (e.g. "20:14, 25 October 2023 (UTC)")
