Talk:Political spectrum: Difference between revisions

(→‎Talk page format: made a number of changes to the talk page format on this page. But I didn't make any changes to anyone else's comment (though I did embellish the #Deferring to Wikipedia and #Horseshoe theory section headers))

:: I suppose I'm saying that I don't see how drawing a horseshoe on the Telos chart is any more informative than drawing a clockwise/counterclockwise arrow on a Political Compass chart; and thus that the association requires more explanation. For that matter, the Nolan chart may show the horseshoe theory just as easily as (if not moreso than) the Telos chart. So I'd think it would need its own section - something about political spectra that are represented by curved surfaces.
:: As for Friedman being right, I was referring to economic right. The 2D chart on this page puts classical liberalism right-of-center, and in particular, the Political Compass authors consider him to be quite a ways on the right; see [[https://www.politicalcompass.org/analysis2]]). ::: I think you are confusing the political spectrum and political compass in both cases. [[W: Horseshoe theory]] refers to the 1D political spectrum not the the 2D political compass. The 2D political compass would be useful for showing the horseshoe but the Telos model was invented to explain the "paradox" illustrated by the Horseshoe theory. Its about intend and origin. As for Friedman, The free market is a centrist opinion its just that nobody is on the economic right any more. The Mercantile system is the on the right of the economic spectrum. The left and right in the political compass does not translate to left and right in the 1D spectrum. They put the orientation that way for a reason but it is only about economic freedom and does not really get into different forms. The political compass is not really any better than the spectrum. In this instance the 1D spectrum is better. The fact that the Telos Model covers all this really shows its strength --[[User:Dr. Edmonds|Dr. Edmonds]] ([[User talk:Dr. Edmonds|talk]]) 01:59, 5 October 2020 (UTC)

I reformatted this page a bit, adding a topic title to the "[[#Deferring to Wikipedia]]" section, and adding "<code><nowiki>:''Discussion started: ~~~~~''</nowiki></code> subheadings to all of the talk page topics on this page. I also added a copy of the <code><nowiki>{{subst:TalkPageIntro}}</nowiki></code> at the top of the page, which should add a current copy of [[:Template:TalkPageIntro]] as the leading paragraph of the page. Note that it's possible to literally put "<code><nowiki>:''Discussion started: ~~~~~''</nowiki></code>" right underneath the section header for any section started on a talk page, and MediaWiki will fill in the date and the [[Help:UTC timestamp|UTC timestamp]]. -- [[User:RobLa|RobLa]] ([[User talk:RobLa|talk]]) 06:55, 4 October 2020 (UTC)

Take a look at these two lists, might be good to give hints to how they relate to one another

I've deleted the comment from [[User:Trichot]] made at 05:55 UTC on 3 September 2021. It makes me ''deeply'' uncomfortable to allow long lists of unannotated links to raw Javascript files on this website. -- [[User:RobLa|RobLa]] ([[User talk:RobLa|talk]]) 02:02, 10 September 2021 (UTC)

To RobLa: I would like to make a note that those "Javacript" files stores mainly JSON-like data, that only contains example questions. Please check the information again as they do not contain anything malicious.
