'''Warren Smith''' founded the Center for Range Voting jointly with [[Jan Kok]] in 2005, after starting [http://www.rangevoting.org/ rangevoting.org] in 2003. He measured benefit for the range voting system via [https://rangevoting.org/WarrenSmithPages/homepage/works.html computer election simulations] with the aid of a statistical yardstick called [[w:Bayesian regret|Bayesian Regret]] (closely related to [[W:social utility efficiency|social utility efficiency]]).

Warren is also known for having devised a number of new cardinal methods, such as [[Reweighted Range Voting]], and for having reexamined others and brought them back to light, like [[Thiele's method]].
