These are the results from the 2003 Debian Project Leader election. A lot of the text below was recreated from the a 2011 archive.org snapshot of this page, back when Electowiki was running some software that User:RobLa wrote (which was called "Electowidget"). See http://www.debian.org/vote/2003/vote_0001 for the raw data for the election, published by the Debian Project after their 2003 election). The converted data for "Electowidget" can be found in an older version of this page.
In 2003, The Debian Project used the Schulze method, but results using other methods (e.g. Instant runoff voting) are also provided here for comparison purposes. A detailed discussion of these results is also available, written in 2003 before Electowiki existed.
Leave a note on "Talk:2003 Debian Project Leader Election" to ask User:RobLa about conversion of ranked ballots to range ballots. In short, the approval voting tally provided below assumes all candidates better than "NOTA" (none of the above) are approved. In this tally, all candidates equal to or below NOTA are not approved.

Results
Schulze Method(wv-mod)
The winner is Michlmayr.
Detailed Results
The results below were calculated using the Beatpath algorithm for Schulze(wv-mod). This is done first calculating the pairwise results, then creating two matrices of winning votes (with negative opponents' votes in event of a loss) and margin of victory. It then calculates two Beatpath matricies, which is a matrix of the better of a direct victory or a transitive victory. The transitive victory strength of x over z is the weakest victory of x over y and y over z. The winning votes matrix is used as a primary source, iwith the margins matrix used as a tiebreaker. The winner is the candidate for which there are no beatpath defeats.

Approval
The winner is Garbee.
Detailed Results
The results below were calculated using the Approval method. The winner of an Approval election is the candidate that is approved by the greatest number of voters. Since some ballot types are more expressive than necessary for approval, the results below were calculated assuming that any score strictly greater than zero constitutes "approval", and any score equal to or less than zero constitutes "disapproval".
