Any voting method that loosely is based on majority rule. Also called "majoritarian" methods. In the PR case, many of these methods use Droop quotas or pass the Droop proportionality criterion to guarantee that a majority will always get at least half of the seats.

In order to be majority rule-based/related, the method must at least pass the majority criterion in the two-candidate case (or the majority criterion for rated ballots).
