Breaking this page up

I would like to break the "Quota" page into three or four pages (minimally: Quota, Hare quota, Droop quota). I thought about being bold and just doing it, but I figured I should at least leave a comment or two before making the change. Thoughts? -- RobLa (talk) 00:36, 5 December 2020 (UTC)

Go for it. Each page will likely be a stub but that's fine. --Dr. Edmonds (talk) 00:42, 5 December 2020 (UTC)
User:Dr. Edmonds, thanks for the quick response! I'm curious, though: why do you think they'll be stubs? It looks like even Wikipedia has more than a stub about the Hagenbach-Bischoff quota.-- RobLa (talk) 00:55, 5 December 2020 (UTC)
They would be stubs if the content was not expanded. If you want to add the wikipedia content then great. --Dr. Edmonds (talk) 01:53, 5 December 2020 (UTC)
@RobLa I think the Wikipedia article on the Droop quota is good enough to copy directly now. Closed Limelike Curves (talk) 19:54, 12 February 2024 (UTC)
@Closed Limelike Curves:: thanks for the heads up. It's been years (almost four of them, it seems) since I've thought about doing this. I kinda like steering people toward Wikipedia for concepts that aren't terribly controversial (because they're based on math, and it's not hard to establish their notability), and having the stuff that's more controversial over here (e.g. newer voting methods that are still being discussed by math nerds). We shouldn't be in the habit of copying entire articles out of English Wikipedia, but I suppose having stubs with identical/similar lede sections would be good. A new "Droop quota" article should (perhaps) have its summary copied from the "Quota" article here. I may just do that, but first I want to see the relative quality of the two choices. -- RobLa (talk) 00:07, 13 February 2024 (UTC)
