RCV only?

1) Is OK to say that the term "Exhausted ballot choices" pertains to RCV (IRV) only? --

In other words - is it possible to "exhaust" a ballot in Range Voting, Approval Voting or STAR Voting? -- Masiarek (talk) 20:11, 27 February 2023 (UTC)

Exhausted ballots vs exhausted choices

2) This page should be more generic explanation of "Exhausted ballots" - overrates, undervotes

exhausted choices - a specific example of "Exhausted ballots" - should be treated under exhausted choices. -- Masiarek (talk) 20:11, 27 February 2023 (UTC)

I believe the "Exhausted ballot" page should be merged with the "Exhausted choices" page. It doesn't help our readers to understand the difference between "exhausted choices" and "exhausted ballots", since even I don't entirely understand the distinction you're trying to make, Masiarek. Even if you're able to make me understand the distinction, I'm reasonably sure that we should be able to explain the distinction to everyone else on a single page rather than two different pages. We don't need to have two different pages to maintain in perpetuity. My hunch is that the merged page should be called "Exhausted ballot", but perhaps "Ballot exhaustion" should be the name (to align with Ballotpedia). Regardless, there is a lot of work needed to more clearly explain this concept, so please refrain from creating more articles until we get this sorted out. Thanks in advance. -- RobLa (talk) 04:37, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
